BUDGETING AND PLANNING SERVICES
Mediation decisions often create needs for the parties which may seem to be beyond the Mediation Issue itself. One such need is often for Business Planning, another is often the need for a spouse to plan their household budget. If Dr. Seuss were to write a book on the topic, it might be called, “I Can Plan, Yes I Can,” because many people, unfamiliar with the planning process, are overwhelmed at the thought. Others who Google it may come away with the notion that it requires complex, sophisticated financial and business education and is often an arduous and time-consuming process.
It need not be, because planning need only as be complicated as the conditions you are planning. In short, the plan for a small business – or even a routine household, should not [in fact, must not] be as complex as the Business Plan for General Electric, or even a division of General Electric. With some simple guidelines, and sometimes the help of a facilitator YOU CAN PLAN – YES YOU CAN.
WHAT IS PLANNING?
Planning is the process of creating a roadmap of the anticipated revenues and expenses of an enterprise, or even a household, over a given timeframe. It should be based on historic facts [how much revenue did I generate last year? What are my known expenses?] modified by what we know has changed [the expected affect of the mediation; or the customer we’ve added/the customer we’ve lost] and what else we’re trying to change [adding a new salesman, a new product, increased advertising, increased/decreased payroll and productivity].
HOW DOES IT RELATE TO MEDIATION?
The results of Mediation can present you with New Situations, New Realities, New Responsibilities, New Economics and therefore change many of your planning parameters. Included may be such things as: changes in business ownership; changes in monthly expense and income levels; changes in business relationships and obligations; changes in banking resources and flexibility; changes in food and clothing requirements for the downsized family, and any of a host of other possible changes. People who don’t plan and anticipate these changes risk financial difficulties, just for not stopping to plan. At CRM, our professionals can help you plan, to better understand your resources and obligations, and avoid financial distress whether Business or Personal.
